Recycling Information

The following Recycling Information is provided to assist you in your current recycling efforts.

The Town of Derry has completed
Recycling Boulevard, map (Please check back soon).

The current  Derry Recycling Guide (please check back soon),   and Recycling Ordinance are provided to give you further information as to the Town's policies.

Why Recycle?

Environmentally speaking, recycling extend the life of landfills through volume reduction and returns recyclable materials to the economic mainstream, thereby saving our natural resources.

Recycling allowed Derry to comply with State law requiring a 15-25% reduction in solid waste in the 1990's.

It's the law!!!! Derry has a recycling ordinance. We need your cooperation.

The recycling rate was a 35% and the division processed 9078 tons of trash for FY2008. Strong commodity prices for products such as metals, cardboard and newspaper were key factors in generating approximately $321,000 in revenues. Resident participation in recycling efforts reduces the operational costs for the Transfer Station

Home Composting

Composting is a means of breaking down some of your kitchen waste to be reused as nutrients for your yard or garden.  Basically raw fruits and vegetables, coffee grounds, egg shells, grass clippings and fall leaves may be removed from your household trash and composted.  Be careful not to add any animal products or cooked foods as these are not acceptable items for a compost.
