Roll Call: Fairbanks, Carney, Metts, Coyle, Chirichiello, Ferrante, and Chairman Bulkley.

 

·         Accept gift of Conservation Easements

Chairman Bulkley read the email from Paul Dionne, Conservation Chairman:

“These parcels before you this evening are another example of the generosity of the Rutter family.  These parcels, over 30 acres in total, are historical, natural history and wild life importance.  It also provides a large, unfragmented area with protection in perpetuity, as these parcels abuts the parcel that is owned by Hannah Rutter-Martin now easement protected.  The Derry Conservation Commission strongly supports your approval of these gifts of conservation easements.

 

Council discussed provision of sewer over the land and there would be no effect unless a home was built on this land.

 

Resolution:

 

            Pursuant to the powers granted the Town of Derry under RSA 36-A: 4, and Section 9.15 of the Derry Town Charter, be it resolved that the Derry Town Council on this 18th day of December, 2007 hereby accepts the gift two Conservation Easements for E. Michael Rutter and Linda M Rutter to the Derry Conservation Commission and authorize the Town Administrator to execute the easements in recordable form on behalf of the Town of Derry.  Motion by: Councilor Metts, Seconded by Councilor Carney.  Vote: 7-0-0

 

Rebecca Rutter said a few words on behalf of the family, Hannah Rutter-Martin, her aunt and E. Michael & Linda Rutter her parents.  They wanted to thank the Town and Derry Conservation Commission for working with the family to complete this project.  It was her grandfather Everett Rutter who settled in Derry in 1916 and started his farm.  These easements are now on this land and the family would like to give credit to him also.

 

·         Confirmation Appointment of Business Development Coordinator

 

Chairman, Bulkley asked Elizabeth A. Thompson to approach the podium and answer questions from the Derry Town Councilors.

 

Beth Thompson answered various questions regarding her work experience, goal and objectives and downtown businesses from, Councilors’ Carney, Coyle and Chirichiello.

 

Councilor Fairbanks, stated that she was not aware of the “Meet and Greet” prior to this evenings meeting with Beth Thompson.

 

Move that the Derry Town Council accept the confirmation of Elizabeth A. Thompson appointment as Business Development Coordinator for the Town of Derry.  Motion by: Councilor Chirichiello, Seconded by Councilor Ferrante.  Vote: 6-0-1 (Fairbanks-abstained)
