Letter to the Residents of Derry

From:  Thomas Cardon, Town Council Chair

Dear Derry Community Members,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who expressed their interest and concerns about our FY 2016 budget. Our ultimate goal was to try and meet the needs of our community. I am confident that the Town Council heard your thoughts and ideas and considered your input when making their final decisions.  Any choices to raise, lower or maintain level funding regarding our high tax rate was bound to be unpopular for some of our residents.  It is our job and our responsibility to listen to all of our constituents and collectively make the best decisions possible to keep our community a positive, safe and affordable place to live.

As we move forward to the coming year and beyond, it will be important to seek input from all community members to ensure that we are cost effective in delivering the essential services that we all deserve and appreciate.  As the Town Council Chair, I will be forming a fiscal advisory committee to improve the overall budgeting process for the future.  This will include ongoing communication and gathering relevant data that will help with our decision making process.

Derry is a great place to live with a vibrant sense of community and the Town Council is committed to keeping it that way.

Sincerely,

Thomas Cardon
Town Council Chair
