Throughout the Summer, the Derry Parks and Recreation Department hosts and sponsors a variety of program and events appealing to children and adults of all ages! We welcome you to join the Derry Parks & Recreation Department for an afternoon celebration of Easter and springtime in Derry.
Enjoy a delicious catered meal. After your meal enjoy a special live musical performance by “Just Harry Ensemble” and a special delivery from the Easter Bunny!

Admission is $5.00 and to be paid at time of registration. Tickets are for adults 50 years of age and better while supplies last. A limited amount of tickets will be available for this event. Derry Residents can begin registering Monday, Feb. 24th, while nonresidents can begin registering on Monday, March 10th!

Swing Into Spring, Boston Tour

Join the Derry Parks & Recreation Department as we travel to Boston for an exciting tour of Fenway Park AND a Boston Duck Tour! Tour the home of the 2013 World Champion Boston Red Sox! See the home of Red Sox legends, visit Pesky’s Poll and sit atop the world famous Green Monster which stands 37 feet 2 inches high overlooking leftfield.

After our tour of Fenway we will board the Boston Duck Tours where we will enjoy a narrated trip around the city. Someone may even have the chance to drive their duck!
This trip is a wonderful spring trip for adults and families alike, ages 3 and older.
The price of this trip includes Fenway Park Walking Tour, Boston Duck Tour, and coach bus transportation. Please bring with you a bag lunch to eat during the trip as time at the Prudential might be limited. The Coach Bus transportation will depart from Hood Commons at 8:30 AM, so be sure to show 10 - 15 minutes prior to ensure we leave on time! Enjoy an afternoon lunch with friends at Alexander-Carr Park. The air-conditioned lodge will be transformed into a Tropical Island getaway perfect for an afternoon meal with friends. The Derry Parks and Recraetion Department will provide hamburgers and hotdogs as well as tropical background music. We ask that participants please bring a dish to share with the group. Island attire is encouraged, but not required. This event is intended for individuals 50+ years of age or better! Derry residents may begin to register starting Monday, March 31, 2014. All nonresidents will be added to a waiting list. If space is available, nonresidents will be contacted two week prior to the event to pick up tickets. Department and Parkland Medical Center have teamed up once again to offer a series of educational presentations about various health and wellness topics specifically for those aged 55 or better. Each lecture will consist of a presentation from a healthcare expert as well as a Question & Answer session. Attendees may submit questions in advance. Light refreshments will be provided.

Hood Park Opens for the Season

Hood Park is located on Rollins Street in Derry and will officially open for the 2014 season in June. A specific opening date will be announced in May. Operating hours throughout the season are 10:00 am - 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday (weather permitting). During these hours, the Hood House and concession stand will be open, lifeguards are on duty, and Recreation Staff are present. Hood is also the perfect place for summer day activities for children! An activity calendar will be available for the months of June, July, and August with daily children's events, most of which are free of charge! There are also crafts, funyak boat rentals, and free swim time taking place daily.

Don Ball Park is located on Humphrey Road off By Pass 28. The numerous athletic fields located at this park include two practice fields, a game only field, a softball field, and baseball diamond. This is the Town's most active park, being utilized by many private athletic leagues including the Derry Soccer Club, Derry Little League, Derry Demons, Wolverine's Football, and Derry Youth Lacrosse.


This is also home to our largest playground and splash pad! There is equipment for children of all ages including various slides, swings, gliders, and stations. The concession stand is open seasonally (May through August) and for special events and programs. New this year, Don Ball Park will be home to numerous special events designed to get the family out of the house and involved in the community. Fall Foliage Trip

Join the Derry Parks and Recreation on a dinner train ride through the beautiful Lakes Region of New Hampshire. The Hobo Railroad sets voyage from the center of Meredith in NH and takes you throughout the area showing off the area's charming fall foliage. While aboard, enjoy a full turkey dinner that is sure to put you into the fall mentality. More information will be available for this trip as the date draws near.
