Chief Edward B. Garone and the Police Department's Senior Advisory Committee have made available "Vials of Life" to all individuals who live alone, Senior citizens, or anyone who wants to provide for their care in case of medical or other emergencies, or fire.
The vial itself is a standard plastic prescription bottle that contains a form that gives the person's name, doctor's information and medications. There is also a section on the form for notifications in case of an emergency.
When the form is completed it is placed in the vial and the vial placed on the top shelf, right hand side, of your refrigerator. Almost all homes have a refrigerator and in a fire the contents are normally not damaged. A red heart decal on the outside of the appliance alerts responders that there is a "Vial of Life" inside.
To get a "Vial of Life" contact any member of the Senior Advisory Committee or contact Officer Joyce Chadwell.
